Green(ing) Global Value Chains for Sustainable Regional Development

A joint call supporting Global South and early career researchers working on green global value chains, sustainability and regional development.

The Regional Studies Association (RSA) Research Network on Green(ing) Global Value Chains for Sustainable Regional Development (GGVC4SRD), Globelics, and the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) O Network on Global Value Chains invite submissions for a joint Call for Papers on Green(ing) Global Value Chains for Sustainable Regional Development.

The call welcomes research examining green(ing) global value chains, sustainability and the geographical consequences of internationalisation. Contributions from all disciplines are encouraged, with particular emphasis on supporting early career researchers and scholars based in the Global South.

Selected papers will participate in an online winter workshop in January–February 2027, where authors will present their work and receive feedback from researchers associated with the RSA GGVC4SRD Research Network, Globelics and the SASE O Network on Global Value Chains. Following the workshop, a smaller group of participants will be invited to join the 2027 cohort, beginning in March, and continue developing their research through dialogue and feedback with scholars from the partner organisations.

Cohort members may also be eligible for travel bursaries covering flights and accommodation. These bursaries will support participation in November 2027 at either the RSA Regional Futures Conference in London or the Globelics International Conference in Mexico City. Bursary decisions are expected in June 2027.

Applicants should submit a full paper or working draft in PDF format through the official submission form. The submission deadline is December 4, 2026, at 23:59 UK time.
