Globelics is pleased to announce the composition of its Scientific Board for the period 2026–2030. The new Board reflects the global, diverse, and collaborative character of the network, bringing together leading scholars from Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe, as well as alumni representatives who continue to contribute to the development of the Globelics Community.
The Scientific Board will be led by José Miguel Natera, from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico, as President. The Vice-Presidents are Glenda Kruss, from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa; Jun Jin, from Zhejiang University, China; and Danilo Spinola, from Birmingham City University, United Kingdom.
The regional members for Africa are Abdi Ahmad, from Adama Science and Technology University, Ethiopia; Glenda Kruss, from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa; Justina Adwoa Onumah, from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Ghana; and Martin Kang’ethe Gachukia, from the Technical University of Kenya, Rwanda/Kenya.
The members for the Americas are Andrew Roberts Cummings, from Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas, El Salvador; Claudia De Fuentes, from Saint Mary’s University, Canada; Isabel Bortagaray, from Universidad de la República, Uruguay; and José Miguel Natera, from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico.
The members for Asia are Jun Jin, from Zhejiang University, China; Keun Lee, from Seoul National University, South Korea; Swati Mehta, from the National Institute of Science Education and Research, India; and Trina Fizzanty, from the National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia.
The members for Europe are Carlo Pietrobelli, from UNU-MERIT, Netherlands; Danilo Spinola, from Birmingham City University, United Kingdom; Isabel Álvarez, from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain; and Roberta Rabellotti, from Università di Pavia, Italy.
The alumni representatives are Abiodun Egbetokun, from De Montfort University, United Kingdom/Nigeria, and Jana Schmutzler De Uribe, from Universidad del Norte, Colombia.
The new Scientific Board will guide Globelics in strengthening its global research community, supporting regional networks, promoting academic exchange, advancing capacity building, and deepening dialogue between research, policy, and practice on innovation, learning, competence building, and development.
