Modeling Tomorrow: Innovation for Sustainable Development — an international PhD Academy on innovation, development, and policy in Barbados.

NACLICS, the North America and Caribbean Chapter of Globelics, invites doctoral and postdoctoral researchers to apply for the 3rd multidisciplinary International PhD Academy on Innovation, Development and Policy.
Hosted by The University of the West Indies at Cave Hill in Barbados, the Academy will address key issues at the intersection of innovation, development, and policy from a multidisciplinary perspective, with a strong connection to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Academy will bring together leading scholars and practitioners to support participants through lectures, mentoring, expert panels, faculty feedback, professional development sessions, field trips, and a hackathon on innovation for sustainable development.
Research areas include innovation and development in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals; systems of innovation and technological capability building; enterprises, investment and innovation for sustainable development; science, technology and innovation policy; and transitions to digitalization, sustainability, and emergency recovery.
Advanced PhD students and postdoctoral researchers within three years of receiving their PhD are eligible to apply. Applications should include a letter of interest indicating the research topic and motivation to participate, a curriculum vitae, a nomination letter from an academic reference, and an extended abstract or full working paper.
Applications close on January 10, 2026. Results will be announced by January 30, 2026.
