The Revista de Economía Contemporánea (REC), an open-access electronic journal published by the Institute of Economics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, has issued a call for papers for a special section of its 30th volume. This edition, scheduled for November 2026, is specifically dedicated to the themes of innovation and development in Latin America. This initiative is a collaborative effort between REC and the LALICS Network, inviting participants from the 6th LALICS International Conference (LALICS RIO 2025) to submit the research they presented during the event. The journal welcomes both empirical and theoretical articles that employ diverse methodological approaches to analyze topics relevant to research and innovation policies in Latin America, whether at the global, continental, or national level. To be considered for this special publication, submissions must adhere to the following criteria: Articles must have been presented at the LALICS RIO 2025 conference. Submissions must not be currently under review by other journals or book projects. All manuscripts must strictly comply with the REC Editorial Policies. The editorial board and guest editors will conduct a preliminary review of all submissions. Manuscripts deemed suitable will subsequently be sent for external peer review. The evaluation process for final acceptance will be based on the alignment with the call’s requirements, the relevance of the research problem to the current economic debate in Latin America, the originality of the contribution, and the rigor of the materials and methods employed. This special volume represents a significant opportunity to disseminate high-level academic research originating from the LALICS community to a broader global audience.
